Light Works Universe
Privacy, in plain words.
This page explains what we collect when you use lightworksuniverse.com and the Light Works Universe apps for Fire TV and Roku, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and we keep it honest.
Effective October 27, 2026
01What we collect
- Your email address, when you sign in or ask for information. We use it to sign you in, keep your rentals and purchases on your account, and send messages you asked for.
- Creator accounts also hold the details creators choose to add: a display name, username, bio, profile images, links to their work, and the films, music and text they upload.
- Sign-in records: the time of a sign-in and the type of browser or device used, so we can keep accounts safe and spot misuse.
- TV link codes: when you link a Fire TV or Roku, the TV shows a short code that you type on the website. Codes expire after 10 minutes. After linking we keep the TV's name and type (for example "Fire TV"), when it was linked and when it was last used. We store only scrambled (hashed) versions of the codes and of the TV's access key.
- Basic playback and activity: which titles are played, view and like counts, comments you post, and simple technical logs (such as errors and request times) that help us keep streaming working.
- Purchases: what you rented or bought, when, and the amount. Payments are handled by our payment processor (see below).
02How we use it
- To run the service: sign you in, play what you're allowed to watch on the web and on your linked TVs, and show your rentals and purchases.
- To pay creators their share of rentals and purchases.
- To keep the service safe, fix problems, and understand in broad terms what people watch so we can improve it.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
03Payments
Rentals and purchases are made on the website, never inside the TV apps. Card payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to us; we receive only what we need to record the purchase (such as the amount, the date and a payment reference). Stripe's own privacy policy covers how it handles payment details.
04Cookies
We use a small number of cookies that the site needs to work: one keeps you signed in, and others remember access settings. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. If you block cookies, you will not be able to stay signed in. The TV apps keep their own access key on the device after you link them; unlinking removes it.
05Who else handles data
Like most websites, we rely on service providers to host the site, store data and video, send email and take payments. They handle information only to provide those services to us. We may also share information if the law requires it or to protect people from harm or fraud.
06How long we keep it
Account information stays while your account is active. TV link codes disappear after 10 minutes; a linked TV's record stays until you unlink it. Purchase records are kept as long as needed for accounting and legal reasons. Logs are kept for a limited time.
07Your choices
- Unlink a TV at any time from lightworksuniverse.com/tv. Its access stops right away.
- See, correct or delete your information. You can ask us for a copy of the information tied to your email address, ask us to fix it, or ask us to delete your account and its data. We will confirm the request comes from the account's email address before acting, and we will reply within 30 days. Some records (such as purchase records) may need to be kept where the law requires.
08Children
Light Works Universe is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
09Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Big changes will be announced on the site.
